La Grange Chocolate Crawl.  Sponsored by Main Street La Grange, this is a chocolate lovers delight taking place on Saturday, February 12 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Visit over 20 participating businesses, sample decadent chocolate treats, and shop local artisan stores. Only 500 tickets available. From sweet treats to Broadway nights, show off your talent or just having some fun by taking in Open Mic Night at The Gallery at Gatewood in La Grange on Thursday, February 17 from 5 – 10 p.m. Free admission and drink specials. Must be over 21 to participate.

Yew Dell Botanical Gardens in Crestwood, KY offers a series of in-person and virtual workshops beginning January 26 and running through March. The workshops begin with The Evolution of Plants (virtual, Jan. 26) and will feature five workshops throughout February such as Plant Walk Series:  The Other Evergreens. Let the experts teach you how to create a landscape plan and how to select perfect plants for your plan.

Find relief for your cabin fever through the arts by visiting Gallery 104 in the heart of downtown La Grange. This juried fine art gallery is operated and managed by the Arts Association of Oldham County. The gallery features over 20 local and regional artists displaying and selling such treasures as jewelry, ceramics, pottery, paintings, wooden objects and much, much more. During February the Gallery will have two shows on display:  the Beautiful Differences Art Show will run through February 19, and Viva Italia will run from February 22 – March 12. Don’t forget to pick up a little something extra for yourself while there.

Get out and get some fresh air with the entire family at Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve in Goshen by participating in their 13th Annual Great Backyard Bird Count on Saturday, February 19. This is a FREE event is for beginning to advanced bird watchers of all ages. Meet at the picnic pavilions near the Nature Center to enjoy a woodland walk led by birding experts. The Louisville Audubon Society will help identify and count birds and report sightings to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

If a night of suspense appeals to you, take in a play performed by the very talented Little Colonel Players in Pewee Valley. This local theater group staged its first performance in 1958 with a production of one-act plays and continues to create high quality productions. February will feature Laura, by George Sklar and Vera Caspary, which tells the story of Mark McPherson who falls head over heels in love with Laura, a phantom. But to Mark (and three other men!) she was tantalizingly alive and real! Help solve the mystery of who killed Laura and why. Laura will be performed on February 11, 12, 17, 18, 19 at 7:30 p.m. and on February 13, 20 at 2:00 p.m.
