15 Mar The Kentucky Artisan Distillery
Being situated next door to the award-winning Yew Dell Botanical Gardens, and on the same street at 3rd Turn Oldham Gardens Brewery, your bourbon getaway to Kentucky is sure to be a memorable experience as you begin your adventure right here in Oldham, KY.
Kentucky Artisan Distillery is a very unique place in the world of distillery tours. This ice cream factory-turned-distillery started out as a contract bottler and distiller for many different customers. They now focus on three distinct primary brands: Jefferson’s bourbons and Whiskey Row bourbon.
Guests are given an opportunity to learn the fascinating story behind the Jefferson’s brands, while touring a one-of-a-kind distillery and seeing the fascinating process of bourbon production… from grain to bottle. Every tour offers a behind-the-scenes view of the process as visitors actually talk to the distillers, climb up next to the cypress wood fermenters to view the mash, and walk through our laboratory (unheard of!) to see where the experiments of Jefferson’s founder and master blender, Trey Zoeller, come to life.
Jefferson’s is the brainchild of Trey Zoeller and his father Chet, a famed bourbon historian. They were continuing a family tradition that goes back to Trey’s 8th generation grandmother who was arrested in 1799 for the “production and sales of spirituous liquors.”
And while you wait for your tour of Kentucky Artisan Distillery, check out their charming gift shop, offering unique Jefferson’s keepsakes and Kentucky-inspired products. Enjoy a bourbon tasting of ALL 3 bourbons at their custom bar – a historical bank teller window saved from the old Bank of Pewee Valley, which closed in 1950.
Kentucky Artisan Distillery is the most personal bourbon distillery tour you’ll experience in Kentucky! Our tour is the perfect complement to your weekend stay in Oldham County’s luxury bed and breakfasts, your shopping, dining and train watching experience on Main Street in the La Grange Main Street Shopping and Dining District, and your cool, educational horse farm tour by Oldham Farm Tours.
