Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve is a non-profit public charity established in 1975 through the legacy of Virginia Creasey Mahan and Howard Mahan. The Nature Preserve is a 170-acre family friendly destination in Goshen, KY (Exit 14 to US 42) that offers a complete family experience. In 2017 alone, 48,000 visitors were served! The Preserve maintains three historic buildings and offers a natural history museum for educational programs. Creasey hosts several events each year including Nature Camps, a Haunted Trail, and natural weddings.

With over 9 miles of wooded trails that weave through open grasslands, four year-round springs and waterfalls, frog pond, 2-acre woodland garden, and forested areas. Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve is a wonderful place to relax and take a leisurely hike or just enjoy picnic pavilions and native grasslands. Visit the natural history museum featuring a bird blind and a toddler’s magical forest play area.

Visitors may also picnic, camp overnight, walk their dog, and fly a kite in one of the open grassy areas. We are open from dawn to dusk 365-days a year. There is no charge for enjoying the Nature Preserve!

Explore the Nature Center, Wednesdays 1pm – 4pm and Saturdays 10am-2pm. We have terrific crafts for kids to make, a scavenger hunt to explore the exhibits, a bird blind and our demonstration bee hive.

The perfect culinary complement to this getaway is a boxed lunch from Red Pepper Deli in either La Grange or Crestwood. There is nothing like a freshly made sandwich or salad and a cup of homemade soup. Creasey offers picnic tables throughout the preserve so you can take advantage of gorgeous views at every turn!

Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve and several of our Vacation Rental Homes are close to the cities of Prospect and Goshen in Oldham County. Also nearby is our quaint rivertown of Westport, where you will find Knock on Wood Merchantile & Cafe and Westport Park where you can enjoy a picnic by the Ohio River.
