The Land
Everyone has their own reasons for a personal or group retreat and Valaterra offers the perfect space no matter the reason. Nothing sparks creativity, fresh ideas and open minds more than our ‘get away from it all’ private property conveniently located within a 25 minute drive of Louisville, yet with no traffic and no city noise as distractions.
Valaterra is situated on over 100 acres amidst some of the most gorgeous forested property along Harrods Creek. A connection with the land is encouraged through hiking trails and outdoor gathering spaces among large boulders, rocky cliffs and fields of wildflowers.
The Sanctuary House
The Sanctuary House was built with an environmental ethos in mind. The primary-wood supports of the house were taken from an old barn, and the floors are reclaimed chestnut. The walls were constructed from foot-thick Durisol block. No dry wall was used in the interior, as all walls are American Clay, and high-efficiency geothermal heating and cooling is used throughout the house, offering consistent comfort.
The fully-equipped kitchen was furnished with state-of-the-art modern energy-efficient appliances, and has a large granite island perfect for an appetizer buffet or conducting cooking classes. The vast sunroom overlooks the wooded forest with plenty of space to spread out and take in the serene views from atop Valaterra. Your guests can choose to take the handmade lighted staircase or convenient elevator that leads to the lower level conference room.
The Sanctuary House is ideal if your workshop or retreat is for a day, a couple of days, or a week.

Valaterra offers comfortable and private spaces. Your group will be able to grasp the message you want to convey in a tranquil and peaceful environment designed to support a clear mind and foster creativity. Present an educational seminar, develop teamwork, make important business decisions, or just recharge and rejuvenate!
Designed to offer plenty of natural light, the conference room continues the theme at Valaterra of tranquil spaces and natural surroundings. A glass door leads outside to a covered patio under the sunroom, forested walking trails, and fields of 
wildflowers.
We offer excellent versatility with a large sunroom overlooking the forest, an open loft overlooking the kitchen and fireplace, patios with comfortable outdoor furniture, covered porches surrounded by nature, and smaller “pod” meeting spaces throughout that are perfect for break-out sessions.
Stay
Valaterra offers three bedrooms and separate pull-out sofas to accommodate up to 12 people.
