Colors Across Cultures

Colors Across Cultures is the theme embraced by the Louisville Area Fiber and Textile Artists for its biennial fall art exhibition on display at Gallery 104 in La Grange. The exhibition builds on the groups 2022 Cradle to Grave show which was inspired by colors of significance in the South Korean culture. Those works were displayed at the Korea Fiber Art Forum Suwon, South Korea.

Grant’s Giving 5K Timed Run and 3K Walk/Run

The Grant’s Giving 5K timed run will also feature a 3K Walk/Run. The conclusion of the event will feature food trucks, music, and fun!

Grant Tucker was a vibrant little boy, beloved in his community of Goshen, KY. Grant passed away Nov. 21, 2020, just days after his 12th birthday. This community event is multipurpose as it was created in remembrance of his passing and celebration of his birth. This event will serve as the largest fundraiser for the charity that was created in his honor, Grant’s Giving Foundation.  Learn more about the foundation at www.grantsgiving.org. Native American Heritage Month Celebration

Join the Oldham County History Center to celebrate Native American Heritage Month. The Ohio River was one of the most important corridors for Native American travel and trade. Thousands took advantage of the pristine water and abundant resources for sustenance and trade. There is evidence that Native Americans were thriving in Oldham County as long as 30,000 years ago. Native cultures that lived in Oldham County and the surrounding region included the Adena, Hopewell, Osage, Miami, Seneca-Iroquois, Cherokee and Shawnee. Enjoy a full day of events:

360 Chiropractic Turkey Trotter 5 Mile Run/ 4k Walk

Race begins 8 am at Wendell Moore Park. The Course:  Distance: Runners – 5 Miles/Walkers – 4K (2.48 miles). A challenging combination of cross-country, wooodland trail, and paved trail over a picturesque park-like setting.

Registration Fees$30 early registration/$40 after October 21st.

Online registration ends Friday, November 17th at 2 pm. There will be day of registration. All early registered entrants guaranteed a long sleeve t-shirt, late registrants, after October 21st, on a first come/first serve basis. Packet pick up Saturday, November 19th, at the John W. Black Community Center 7 – 7:50 am.

Awards will be given to the top two finishers in each of the following age groups: 10 & under, 11-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 & over.  Overall Male & Female top finishers also receive a frozen turkey. All entrants will have a chance at one of several door prizes.

This 8th annual holiday boutique featuring local artists will take place in downtown La Grange at Gallery 104. The gallery is a non-profit art gallery run by the Arts Association of Oldham County featuring local and regional artists’ work. This is an excellent opportunity to find original art for holiday gifts by AAOC artists represented in Gallery 104. Represented will be high quality original artwork at very reasonable prices.

Pig and Swig Soup Cook-Off at Oldham Gardens

$10 per person/$25 entry fee to participate. 

Do you have an out of this world soup recipe? Enter for a chance to win the Pig & Swig Soup Cook-Off at Oldham Gardens and see if your recipe has what it takes to be crowned the Championship Belt of Soup Supremacy. This is a ticketed event and only people who buy tickets ($10 day of) will be able to taste the soups and vote. Most number of votes wins the cook off.

Judging begins at 5 pm and ends at 7 pm. Winner will be announced after all votes are counted

Rules:  Soup MUST have pork in the recipe! You must be present and checked in by 5 pm day of event for your soup to be judged and prizes to be received.
Guidelines/dates: (if selected to participate):  We are looking for 15 individuals or businesses to participate. We asked participants to have at least 5 gallons of soup for judging. Bring your soup hot. We will be providing a lit warm chafing dish, tables, and 2 oz tasting cups. A list of ingredients is required. Prizes (winner take all) – $100 Cash and Championship Belt of Soup Supremacy (presented by last year’s winner).
